As you are aware, the reintroduction of full Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions was announced by Government on 30 December, including the extension of the Christmas holidays for school age children and ECCE provision until 11 January 2021.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) also advised that full day care creche provision, which is deemed as an essential service, will remain open for working parents and issued guidance late yesterday to support creche providers. Minster O’Gorman has asked that creche provision reopens as planned from 4 January to provide childcare, particularly to priority groups and essential workers.
Given the prevalence of Covid-19 in the community, we may have to operate at reduced capacity in the centre due to the necessity to meet legislative adult child ratios and the unavailability of staff members.
In addition, there was a positive case in the Wobbler room in the Milltown centre on 24th December, and we notified the effected families including siblings and staff at the time to arrange for testing. Subsequently, we have reduced staffing in the centre and to ensure that we can maintain the integrity of the pods, the centre will reopen with reduced hours on Monday 4 January 2021.
Our operating hours in Milltown next week will be from 8-4pm
We appreciate and thank you for your continued understanding and patience during this evolving situation and we ask that you work in partnership with us to reopen safely on 4 January. The centre opening hours will be reviewed at the end of next week and we will contact you directly with an update.
We will also continue to maintain our high hygiene and operating standards to ensure that our creche remains safe for all our families, their children and our staff teams. Once again, we ask that you act responsibly and notify us immediately if you or any family member have tested positive, are taking a Covid-19 test or are a close contact. We also ask that your child does not attend crèche if a close family member has signs or symptoms of Covid-19. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that we all remain safe and minimise the spread of Covid-19.
Please also advise us if you or a member of the household has travelled abroad in the past 14 days and complete a travel and health declaration in advance of your child’s return to creche which is accessible here: travel declaration form for parents. Also, accessible is a Self Assessment form to keep in mind when considering your child’s attendance to creche.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you informed as we have been advised that the Government will issue further guidance prior to 11 January 2021.
Joanne will be available for any queries you may have, please feel free to contact her directly at the centre at 01 2685 990
Please, as ever, continue to be vigilant and keep safe and well.
